Vocabulary

  • LEDs: light-emitting diode: a device that gives off light when current goes through it, used esp. for displaying readings on digital watches, calculators, etc.

  • Electromagnetic spectrum: The entire spectrum, considered as a continuum, of all kinds of electric, magnetic, and visible radiation, from gamma rays having a wavelength of 0.001 angstrom to long waves having a wavelength of more than 1 million km.

  • Hacking: computing: illegal access.

  • Microcontroller: A microprocessor on a single integrated circuit intended to operate as an embedded system.

  • Embedded: computing: Performing limited number of dedicated functions.

  • Wave: A disturbance sent out or across from one point to another in a medium or space, without progress or advance by the points themselves, as in the transmission of sound or light.

  • Broadcasting: The act of transmitting speech, music, etc., by radio, television, etc.

  • Networked: A computer or telecommunications system linked to permit exchange of information.
